State of the Union

Having heard the President last night I was pleased with his praise of the active duty military and his emphasis on taking care of veterans.  All the active duty military will someday be called "veterans".  That is how I am labeled, a veteran.  I am also one of those thousands of veterans who are waiting for the VA to process their claim for disability.  The President keeps telling the Congress to vote on an issue up or down.  Playing the guessing game is something that most of us are not good at.  With the VA that is exactly what we are doing.  Waiting, waiting and when we ask for the status of our claim we are told to wait some more.  Taking care of veterans means getting the VA to act, means getting rid of excuses, and above all it means "taking care of business"  .  Veterans need a functional VA.

  1. Spending one trillion dollars and thousands of American lives to kill one man is nothing to brag about. The hunt for Red October was costly. And now to lick the wounds. The rehabilitation of a million or so veterans will have another economic impact on this country. The cash register is still ringing. The appearance of victory is so bitter, except for those who cashed in.

Do not look back because veterans who fought this mis-directed war are still dying, not in the battlefield but at home. Feeding an hungry Bureaucratic monster called the Veterans Administration is a bottomless pit of waste and ineffectiveness who cannot or no longer function on its own without incompetent managers who continues pretending like they know what they are doing. It is time to revamp the VA and use the billions of dollars to support veterans and not its survival. The VA is not too big to fail. THe needs of the many veterans out weigh the needs of the few.

    1. Indeed. It is hard to believe or imagine that anyone in the VA qualifies for a bonus based on superior job performance.

  2. That where is the problem lies most of the people working the jobs are not able to preform their job to any minimal standards. Case in fact: Claims processing and healthcare for veterans
